Going to the 'Big Island' of Hawaii for a week, and going to take a day trip over to Honolulu.....?
We are planning on seeing Peral Harbor and Diamond head Crater. We will be trying to fit what we can into the day, so we would love some different ideas that you think would be neat, but also allow us to catch our flight back to the big island at early PM. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Wow! One day doesn't leave you a lot of time. Pearl Harbor can take some time depending on when you arrive and what time of year you are going. I was there in late June and the wait to actually go out to the memorial was 3+ hours. When I went in early December 3 years ago there was no line at all. I agree the Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor are must do activities. There is one other thing you can do in Honolulu and that is shop! There many stores/shops and of course Ala Moana Mall. Don't waste your time. Oahu sucks.

If you're only going for the day, you won't be able to fit in much more than Pearl Harbor (check out both the USS Arizona and the USS Missouri for the complete US involvement in WWII history lesson) and the Diamond Head "hike". Depending on if you have kids with you (or are kids at heart), you might be able to check out the Honolulu Zoo and the Aquarium when you do Diamond Head as they are very nearby. It's worth the price of admission! Good luck and happy travels!
