Best flight to move cat to Hawaii?
My husband and I are moving to Honolulu, Hawaii in a few months and bringing our cat. I understand the procedures and steps I need to do because I have already contacted their department of agriculture numerous times. I want to know what would be the best Airline to move him. He has to be cargo no matter what and I worry about him. I want to know, preferably from personal experience, which one is the safest and has the highest rates of getting animal to the destination safely... I would also like to choose one that allows me to track him at any given moment........

Try to take a nonstop flight if at all possible. The majority of lost animals are due to misconnections. Also, avoid transporting the cat during the summer. The cargo hold has automatic fire extinguishers, and in very humid areas, the extinguishers sometimes deploy even without a fire; this means that the oxygen is removed from the area, suffocating the "fire" and any living creatures there. Airline employees sometimes refer to the automatic extinguishers as "puppy snuffers." No airline has "tracking" of your animal, they will at best pass a card to you after boarding to let you know that your pet has been loaded into the cargo hold. Additional information: "As of May 2005, the Department of Transportation's Aviation Consumer Protection Division started collecting statistics on pets lost, injured, or killed during air transportation. While reading these monthly reports may make you think twice about flying with your dog ("the stress of flying caused the dog to hyperventilate and triggered a cardiac episode," reads a typical example), the statistics aren't very helpful because they are not in context—specifically, they include the numbers of pets lost, injured, or killed, but not the total number of pets transported, making it impossible to calculate just how risky traveling by air actually is (or isn't)."
