You don't say when you want to travel, and that matters a lot regarding the fare. Almost all of the major airlines fly to Honolulu. You have to change planes somewhere and you can decide if you want to split the trip into more equal parts by changing somewhere farther west or somewhere relatively close to Nashville (like Atlanta). For example, Delta flies non-stop from Atlanta to Honolulu, or you can go somewhere like Houston, Denver, or Phoenix to change planes. Check the travel sites (airgorilla, expedia, priceline, etc.) and also the airline sites. I have usually (NOT always) found the best fares on the airline websites. Good luck!

I live in Hawaii, and I try to fly Continental whenever I can. I am very fond of the Houston (IAH) to HNL leg. Most of the cheap seats have a videoscreen in the back of the seat in front of you, and you have a remote control in your armrest. You can choose among three movies, some TV shows, some music streams, or even play video games on it. You can print out a coupon for their headphones before you leave home, and take the headphones with you and re-use them. Every time you look up, it seems like they're bringing the sodas and juice around again. Unless you request a vegetarian meal or something, they don't give you a choice of meal. Typical airline food, but I don't fly with them for the food. I also find their OnePass frequent flyer program to be pretty spiffy. I often island-hop for business, and I can accumulate Continental miles on Island Air.

Go to http:www.kayak.com and enter your travel dates. Not knowing that we cannot really make any comparisons for you, but that website will help you compare many different airlines as well as orbitz, expedia, hotwire, priceline, and so on. You might also want to check Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays as they do charter tours. Or check with your local travel agent; only going to be a very few bucks more and they can deal with all the details for you.
