Do you still need to use your passport to Hawaii?
Okay. Let's say you are a tourist visiting the USA mainland. Then, you take a flight to Hawaii, Honolulu. Upon disembarking from the plane, do you need to use your passport to enter Hawaii? Is the flight from LA or San Francisco to Hawaii considered an internal flight or international flight? Do you still need to show your visa and all that? After all, you are flying acroos the ocean.

Ummm...no....Hawaii is a full fledged state. They may ask you about bringing in certain foods etc...but you should not have to show a passport as long as your flight is domestic and flights from any other state would be considered domestic (you should have already been through customs in another state) But they may ask you if you have any snakes with you...Hawaii has NO snakes :) Aloha!

We are a state. The 50th state to be exact. You need an ID to fly, but you do not need a passport for interstate travel.

This is the third time that this question has been asked this week. I have news for since Hawaii has been a State since 1959 then you do not need a Passport if you are a U.S. Citizen. What you do need is some form of picture ID like a Driver's Licenses or State ID. A Passport is another form of picture ID however it is not needed. It does not matter if you are flying across an ocean. Hawaii is a State so a flight from L.A. or San Fransisco is not an international flight. You are going from one State: California to another State: Hawaii.

Hawaii is part of the united states, you don't need a passport to travel from state to state, even if you are flying across the ocean.
